Sumner County Church Serves The City

A Sumner County couple who has endured a series of recent tragedies, is about to get a completely renovated home courtesy of their church.

Members of the Revolution Church in White House, have been working on The Bush's home as part of their "Serve the City" campaign in July.  Dozens of church members have been hammering, drilling and painting at the home since the end of last week.

Church members said The Bushes dedicate countless hours to the church each week, and no one is more deserving of the help. "Our goal here is to restore not only a home, but a family," said Executive Pastor at Revolution Church, Joe Everette.

Matt and T.C. Bush discovered their home on South Palmers Chapel Road, had a black mold infestation last August.  Since then, they have been living in their 500 square foot garage, and trying to solve the problem on their own.

The Bushes discovered the problem just months after the death of their fourth child.  Since 2006, the couple had one child who was stillborn, lost two to miscarriages, and in 2011, their 3-year-old son, Casey, drowned.  All the children are memorialized in a garden outside the home.  The Bushes said their church has helped them through each heartbreak.

"They cry with us, they laugh with us, and now they are putting in blood, sweat and tears with us," said T.C. Bush.  "The support is overwhelming."

Now, their church family is by their side again.  The renovation is complete with customized prayers and Bible verses on the walls, and the extensive work comes at no cost to the Bushes.

"They never asked for any of this," said Pastor Everette. "I'm hoping it will result in a moment where Matt and T.C. feel some sense of restoration."

Church members will continue to work on the home this week, and the finished product will be revealed Sunday, Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. A big crowd is expected to see how it all turned out.

The Revolution Church is still in need of donations to help cover the cost of supplies and appliances.  Donations can be made through the church's website at
